11th Parachute Brigade (France)

The 11th Parachute Brigade (11e Brigade parachutiste or 11e BP) is a rapid deployment airborne unit of the French Army. It is one of the two airborne brigades in France, the other being the French Army Special Forces Brigade. The 11e BP is specifically geared towards conventional warfare missions, distinguishing it from the special operations focus of the BFS.

The brigade traces its lineage back to World War II and the Free French Forces' airborne units. Throughout its history, the 11e BP has participated in numerous conflicts and operations around the world, including Indochina, Algeria, Chad, the Balkans, and various deployments in Africa.

The brigade's structure typically includes parachute infantry regiments, an airborne artillery regiment, an airborne engineer regiment, a reconnaissance squadron, and a support battalion. Its units are trained for rapid deployment and combat operations in diverse environments.

The 11e BP maintains a high level of readiness and is frequently involved in exercises and training with other NATO forces. Its primary mission is to project French military power rapidly and effectively in response to crises around the globe. A core principle of the brigade is Semper ad alta (Always towards the heights), reflecting the airborne nature of its operations and its commitment to excellence.
