Chief of Defence (Norway)

The Chief of Defence (Norwegian: Forsvarssjefen) is the highest-ranking military officer in the Norwegian Armed Forces. The Chief of Defence is responsible for the command and control of the Armed Forces and is the principal military advisor to the Minister of Defence.

The Chief of Defence is appointed by the King-in-Council on the advice of the government. The position reports directly to the Minister of Defence and is responsible for the planning, development, and operational readiness of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
