Raiden V
Raiden V is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up (shmup) video game developed by MOSS. It is the fifth main entry in the Raiden series. The game features a three-player cooperative mode (two local, one online), and the player controls one of three different Fighting Thunders ships, each with unique weapon properties and sub-weapons.
Gameplay:
The core gameplay of Raiden V retains the series' traditional mechanics, focusing on dodging enemy fire and collecting power-ups to increase the ship's firepower. The game features a "Cheer" mechanic where players can send encouragement to other players, which provides a temporary boost. Unique to Raiden V is the "Moral System," where the game adapts based on the player's performance and the performance of other players online. This influences the difficulty and enemy attack patterns. The game's levels are intricate and filled with numerous enemies and challenging boss encounters. Players can choose from multiple weapon types and upgrade them throughout the game.
Story:
The narrative of Raiden V continues the series' storyline of humanity battling against alien invaders. Players take on the role of pilots tasked with defending Earth from a new and powerful alien threat. The game features branching narrative paths and multiple endings depending on player choices and performance.
Versions:
Raiden V has been released on various platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Each version may contain slight differences in features or content. A "Director's Cut" edition was later released, adding extra content and gameplay enhancements.
