Oregon Trail (1945 film)
Oregon Trail is a 1945 American Western film directed by Thomas Carr and starring Sunset Carson, Peggy Stewart, and Frank Jaquet. The film is a low-budget, black and white B-movie that loosely depicts events along the Oregon Trail.
The plot centers around government agents, disguised as fur trappers, who are sent to investigate and stop a group of outlaws preying on wagon trains heading west along the Oregon Trail. Sunset Carson plays the lead agent, tasked with infiltrating the gang and bringing them to justice. Peggy Stewart portrays a woman traveling on the trail who becomes embroiled in the conflict.
The film is typical of Westerns produced during the 1940s, featuring action sequences, horseback riding, and a straightforward narrative. It is not known for historical accuracy or high production values. Reviews contemporary to its release were generally unenthusiastic, and it is considered a minor entry in the Western genre. It has since primarily gained attention for being a product of its time and for featuring a popular Western actor in the lead role.
