Chai Chee

Chai Chee is a neighbourhood located in Bedok, Singapore. It is primarily known for its public housing estates built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB). Originally a rural area, Chai Chee underwent significant development in the 1960s and 1970s, transforming into a residential district. It is bordered by areas such as Kaki Bukit, Bedok North, and Siglap.

The name "Chai Chee" is Hokkien in origin, meaning "vegetable market." This name reflects the area's past as a farming and market gardening area. While large-scale farming is no longer present, the name has been retained as a historical marker.

Chai Chee is well-connected to other parts of Singapore via public transport, including buses and the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit). Amenities within the neighbourhood include hawker centres, wet markets, shops, and schools, catering to the daily needs of its residents. The area has also seen some redevelopment and upgrading of older estates in recent years.
