Cúl Camps
Cúl Camps (Irish pronunciation: [kuːlˠ kamps]) are Gaelic games-based summer camps for children held throughout Ireland and internationally. They are organized and run by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and are officially known as Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps, due to sponsorship from Kellogg's.
The camps typically cater to children aged 6 to 13 and focus on teaching and developing skills in Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, handball, and rounders. The emphasis is on participation, enjoyment, and skill development in a safe and fun environment. The camps usually run for one week during the summer months and are staffed by qualified coaches and GAA personnel.
Besides sports coaching, Cúl Camps often incorporate other activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes, and Gaelic language introductions. The camps aim to promote Gaelic games and culture to young people and encourage a lifelong involvement in the GAA. They also offer a chance for children from different schools and areas to meet and socialize.
Cúl Camps have become a very popular activity for children in Ireland during the summer holidays, and they contribute significantly to the grassroots development of Gaelic games.
