Tlawng
The Tlawng is a river in the Indian state of Mizoram. It is also known as the Dhaleswari River in its lower reaches as it flows into Bangladesh. The Tlawng River is one of the longest and most important rivers in Mizoram, playing a significant role in the region's transportation, agriculture, and overall economy. It flows in a generally northerly direction through the central part of the state before turning west and then south, eventually crossing the border into Bangladesh.
The river is used for navigation, although its navigability can be affected by seasonal changes in water level. It also serves as a source of water for irrigation and domestic use in the areas it traverses. Various settlements and towns are located along its banks, and the river is considered an integral part of the local ecosystem and culture. Hydroelectric power generation potential exists along the Tlawng, and some projects have been proposed or implemented to harness this potential.
