Bob Riley

Bob Riley (born October 3, 1944) is an American politician who served as the 52nd Governor of Alabama from 2003 to 2011. A member of the Republican Party, Riley previously represented Alabama's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1997 to 2003.

Before entering politics, Riley was a businessman and cattle farmer. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in business administration.

Riley's tenure as governor was marked by efforts at government reform, including a controversial property tax increase proposal that was defeated in a statewide referendum in 2003. He focused on economic development, education reform, and disaster recovery following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

He is married to Patsy Adams Riley and they have four children. Since leaving office, Riley has remained involved in public policy discussions and business ventures.
