Anika (musician)

Anika (born Annika Henderson) is a British-German singer-songwriter and musician. She is known for her minimalist, dub-influenced sound, often incorporating elements of post-punk and spoken word.

Originally a political journalist, Anika's musical career began in 2009 when she was invited by Geoff Barrow of Portishead to sing on a project. This collaboration resulted in her self-titled debut album, "Anika," released in 2010. The album consisted largely of covers of songs by artists such as Bob Dylan, Yoko Ono, and the Germs, reinterpreted with a distinctly Krautrock and dub sensibility.

Following her debut, Anika has continued to release music and tour internationally. Her work often explores themes of political and social commentary. Beyond her solo work, she has collaborated with other artists and been involved in various musical projects. In 2021, she released her second studio album, "Change", further expanding her sonic palette while retaining her characteristic minimalist approach. Anika continues to be recognized for her unique voice and her contributions to the experimental music scene.
