Blue Jay (character)

Blue Jay is a fictional character appearing in the animated television series Regular Show, created by J.G. Quintel. He is a 23-year-old anthropomorphic blue jay and one of the two main protagonists of the series, alongside his best friend Rigby, a raccoon.

Blue Jay, often referred to simply as "Jay," works as a groundskeeper at the park and aspires to be a professional artist or musician. He possesses a generally optimistic demeanor, but is prone to frustration, particularly when his plans are thwarted or when dealing with Rigby's immaturity. He is frequently driven by a desire to impress his coworker and romantic interest, Margaret Smith, a red robin.

Jay is characterized by his tall, slender physique and distinctive blue plumage. He often wears a white shirt and a green tie. His personality traits include ambition, stubbornness, and a strong sense of loyalty to his friends, even when they cause him problems. While he can be responsible, he is easily influenced by Rigby's impulsive behavior, leading them into various outlandish and often surreal adventures. Throughout the series, Blue Jay demonstrates talent in playing the keyboard and creating artwork, though he often struggles with self-doubt. His catchphrase is "Hmph!" when annoyed.
