Mark Burton (bishop)
Mark Burton is an Anglican bishop in the Church of England. He is currently the Bishop of Aston, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Birmingham.
Burton was educated at Durham University and Westcott House, Cambridge. He was ordained as a deacon in 1985 and as a priest in 1986. He served his curacy at Christ Church, Cockfosters, in the Diocese of London.
Prior to his consecration as Bishop of Aston in 2018, Burton served as Archdeacon of Rochdale in the Diocese of Manchester. He has also held positions as a parish priest and in theological education. He has particular interests in urban mission, social justice, and interfaith dialogue. His role as Bishop of Aston involves supporting the Bishop of Birmingham in the oversight of the diocese, with a particular focus on the Aston archdeaconry. He is involved in various initiatives and projects within the local community.
