Billy Murphy (footballer)

Billy Murphy (born 1938) was an Irish professional footballer who played primarily as a midfielder.

Murphy was a key player for Cork Hibernians during their successful period in the 1970s. He captained the team and was instrumental in their League of Ireland title win in the 1970–71 season. He also helped them to FAI Cup victories in 1972 and 1973.

Before joining Cork Hibernians, Murphy played for several other clubs, including Bohemians. He was known for his passing ability and leadership qualities on the field.
