Robert Aitken (university administrator)
Robert Aitken (1931-2010) was a prominent Canadian university administrator who served as the eighth President of the University of British Columbia (UBC) from 1983 to 1985. Prior to his presidency at UBC, Aitken held various administrative positions within the university system.
Aitken's tenure at UBC was relatively short but marked by significant changes in the university's administrative structure and focus. He implemented a strategic planning process designed to address funding constraints and prioritize academic excellence.
