Thomas Crampton (politician)

Thomas Crampton (born circa 1834, died 1912) was a Canadian political figure. He represented Ontario South in the House of Commons of Canada from 1874 to 1878 as a Liberal member.

Born in County Sligo, Ireland, Crampton came to Canada in 1842 and settled near Oshawa in the Ontario South region. Before entering federal politics, he served as the reeve for Whitby Township. He was also a farmer and businessman.

In Parliament, he generally supported the policies of the Liberal government of Alexander Mackenzie. After serving one term, he was defeated in the 1878 election by Francis Wayland Glen.

He died in Whitby in 1912 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
