Billy (1992 TV series)

Billy was an American sitcom television series that aired on ABC from September 16 to October 28, 1992. The show starred Billy Connolly as Billy MacGregor, a Scottish comedian who moves to Hollywood to live with his American daughter and her family after inheriting money.

The series was created by Bruce Helford, Danny Breen, and Bruce Rasmussen. Despite featuring a well-known comedian like Connolly, Billy struggled in the ratings and was quickly canceled after only seven episodes were aired.

The premise centered on the culture clash between Billy's boisterous Scottish personality and the more reserved, suburban lifestyle of his daughter's family. The supporting cast included Marie Marshall as Billy's daughter, Pamela, Johnny Galecki as her son, David, and Megan Cavanagh as her best friend, Patty.

The show’s failure has often been attributed to a lack of clear direction and humor that didn’t resonate with American audiences, despite Connolly’s established fanbase. It is considered a short-lived and largely forgotten entry in the sitcom landscape of the early 1990s.
