Ned Miller (composer)
Ned Miller (born April 12, 1925, Rains, Utah – died January 19, 2016, Prescott, Arizona) was an American country music songwriter, primarily active from the 1950s through the 1970s. Although he sometimes recorded his own compositions, he is best known for the songs he wrote for other artists.
Miller's notable compositions include "From a Jack to a King," a hit for himself and later other artists such as Jim Reeves and Elvis Presley; "Half a Mind," a hit for Ernest Tubb; and "Dark Moon," a hit for Bonnie Guitar and Gale Storm. His songwriting style often featured themes of lost love, loneliness, and regret. Miller was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1982. His impact on country music lies primarily in his contributions as a songwriter, whose work has been recorded and performed by a wide range of artists across various genres.
