Bev Craig
Bev Craig is a Canadian politician, currently serving as the Mayor of Edmonton, Alberta. She was elected in the 2021 municipal election, becoming the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office.
Prior to becoming mayor, Craig served as a city councillor for Ward 13 in Edmonton from 2017 to 2021. During her time on council, she focused on issues such as affordable housing, community safety, and environmental sustainability. She has also been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Alberta and a Master of Arts degree in public policy from the University of Calgary. Before entering politics, she worked in the non-profit sector, focusing on poverty reduction and community development. Her platform emphasized building a more inclusive and sustainable Edmonton. Key policy priorities include tackling climate change, investing in public transit, and addressing homelessness.
