Ben Brush

Ben Brush was a fictional character created by cartoonist Fred Neher for his comic strip "Life's Like That." The strip, launched in 1934 and syndicated by Consolidated News Features, depicted everyday situations and observations, often with a humorous and relatable bent. Ben Brush, frequently appearing as a slightly disheveled, middle-aged man, served as a recurring protagonist within the strip. He was often portrayed encountering and reacting to the various ironies and absurdities of modern life, serving as a comedic everyman. While not necessarily the star of every panel, Ben Brush’s presence lent continuity and recognition to the strip's overall narrative. He became a recognizable feature within "Life's Like That," helping to establish the strip's popularity and its focus on the humorous aspects of common experiences. The strip ceased publication in 1977.
