Basolus
Basolus is a rarely encountered and potentially archaic given name, primarily documented as belonging to a 6th-century Christian saint. Saint Basolus of Verzy (also known as Saint Basle) was a Benedictine monk and abbot who is venerated in the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church. He founded the Abbey of Verzy, located near Reims in France.
Historical records concerning Saint Basolus are somewhat scarce, and much of what is known about him is derived from later hagiographies. He is generally considered a figure of piety and devotion within the early monastic tradition. His feast day is celebrated on November 26th.
Beyond its association with the saint, the name Basolus has extremely limited usage and is not a common name in modern times. Its etymology is uncertain, but potential origins have been speculated within Germanic language roots.
