Baga Bogd
Baga Bogd (also spelled Baga Bogdo) is a mountain in the Gobi-Altai Mountains of Mongolia. It is located in the Bayankhongor Province, specifically within the Gobi-Altai National Park.
Baga Bogd is known for being the site of a major earthquake in 1957. This earthquake, along with the related Gobi-Altai earthquake that occurred nearby, caused significant changes to the landscape, including the creation of large fissures and the displacement of land. The earthquakes are of significant interest to seismologists and geologists due to their magnitude and the resulting surface ruptures.
The area surrounding Baga Bogd is generally arid and sparsely populated, typical of the Gobi Desert region. The mountain itself is a prominent landmark in the landscape. Due to its remote location, detailed information regarding the mountain's flora and fauna may be limited.
