HMS Astraea (1810)

HMS Astraea was a 36-gun fifth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1810. She was built of fir, to a design by Sir William Rule. Astraea was active during the Napoleonic Wars and saw service in various theatres, including operations in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

One notable action involved her capture of the French frigate Etoile in 1814. The engagement took place off the Cape Verde Islands. Astraea engaged Etoile in a fierce fight, resulting in Etoile's surrender after a hard-fought battle.

Following the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Astraea continued in service, primarily on peacetime duties. She was eventually broken up in 1850.
