Bad Kitty (novel)
Bad Kitty is a series of American children's books written and illustrated by Nick Bruel. The series primarily features a black and white house cat named Kitty, and chronicles her often destructive and misbehaving antics. The stories are generally told using an alphabet format, where each letter corresponds to a particular item, action, or concept related to Kitty's behavior.
The Bad Kitty books are aimed at early readers and utilize humor, bold illustrations, and interactive elements to engage children. Recurring themes include Kitty's preferences (food, naps, etc.), her dislikes (baths, vegetables, etc.), and her relationships with other characters, including Puppy, Baby, and various human family members.
The series has garnered popularity for its relatable portrayal of a pet's mischievous nature and its educational component through the alphabet learning structure. Several titles have appeared on children's bestseller lists.
The original Bad Kitty was published in 2005. The series has expanded to include numerous additional titles, including holiday-themed books, activity books, and "Bad Kitty vs. _____" books which pit Kitty against different opponents or situations.
