Arthur Hess (SA general)

Arthur Hess (1897-1945) was a German SA-Obergruppenführer (a high-ranking general in the Sturmabteilung, or SA, the Nazi Party's original paramilitary wing). He joined the Nazi Party and the SA in the 1920s and rose through the ranks, playing a key role in the SA's activities in Bavaria.

Hess was involved in the suppression of political opponents and the enforcement of Nazi ideology. He held various leadership positions within the SA, including command roles in different regions of Bavaria. During World War II, while the SA's power had diminished considerably, Hess remained a significant figure within the organization.

Following the end of World War II, Hess was arrested and tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity related to his activities in the SA. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. Arthur Hess was executed in 1945.
