Artegna

Artegna is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. Located approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Trieste and about 20 kilometers northwest of Udine, it lies in the foothills of the Julian Alps.

Artegna is historically significant for its strategic position and defensive structures. The town experienced significant damage during the 1976 Friuli earthquake. It has since been rebuilt and modernized, though remnants of the older architecture and historical sites remain.

The economy of Artegna is primarily based on agriculture, small-scale industry, and tourism, particularly related to hiking and exploring the surrounding natural environment. Local produce and traditional Friulian cuisine are also important aspects of the region's cultural identity.

Artegna is accessible by road, primarily via the A23 motorway. Regional bus services connect the town to larger urban centers in the area.
