Aristogenes (general)

Aristogenes was a Greek general who served in the Achaean League. He is primarily known for his role in the Achaean War against the Roman Republic in the 2nd century BC.

While specific details of his early life and career are scarce, Aristogenes emerged as a prominent military leader within the Achaean League during a period of rising tensions with Rome. He advocated for a more aggressive stance against Roman influence and expansion in Greece.

During the Achaean War (146 BC), Aristogenes played a significant role in leading Achaean forces against the Roman army under Lucius Mummius. His military strategy and leadership were tested against the superior Roman legions. The war ultimately ended in defeat for the Achaean League, and the city of Corinth, the League's center, was destroyed.
