Ian Thomson (Australian rules footballer)

Ian Thomson (born 20 July 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Thomson, recruited from Reservoir-Lakeside, was a defender. He played a single VFL game for Collingwood in the 1965 season. In 1966, he transferred to Preston in the Victorian Football Association (VFA).

He later had a long career with the Reservoir Football Club in the Diamond Valley Football League (DVFL), captaining the club from 1971 to 1975 and playing in their 1973 premiership team. He won the club's best and fairest award in 1969 and 1970. He was inducted into the Reservoir Football Club Hall of Fame.
