Pretty Polly Stakes (Great Britain)
The Pretty Polly Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to fillies and mares aged four years or older. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at Newmarket Racecourse in late June or early July.
The race is named after Pretty Polly, one of the most celebrated fillies in British racing history, who won 15 of her 16 races, including the 1904 Oaks.
The Pretty Polly Stakes was first run in 1906 at the Curragh in Ireland and remained there until 2023. In 2024, the race was transferred to Newmarket as part of a reshaping of the European racing calendar. It is considered a significant race for older fillies and mares in Europe.
