Dovrat
Dovrat is a moshav in northern Israel. It is located in the Jezreel Valley, near Afula, and falls under the jurisdiction of the Jezreel Valley Regional Council.
History:
Moshav Dovrat was founded in 1936 as a "tower and stockade" settlement, a common method used during the British Mandate to establish Jewish settlements quickly. Its founders were immigrants from Poland and other Eastern European countries. The moshav is named after the biblical city of Dovrat, which was located in the vicinity.
Economy:
Dovrat's economy is primarily based on agriculture. Key agricultural activities include field crops, orchards (particularly olives and fruits), and livestock. Some residents also work in nearby industrial areas or provide services.
Demographics:
As a moshav, Dovrat is characterized by a cooperative lifestyle and a strong sense of community. The population is generally secular.
Landmarks and Attractions:
While Dovrat itself is a relatively small community, its location in the Jezreel Valley provides easy access to numerous historical and natural attractions. These include Tel Megiddo (Armageddon), the Beit She'an National Park, and various hiking trails in the Gilboa mountains.
