Araya (video game)

Araya is a first-person psychological horror video game developed by MAD Virtual Reality Studio. It was released for PC in 2016 and later for PlayStation VR in 2017.

The game is set in a Thai hospital and centers around two playable characters, each with different perspectives and gameplay styles. Players investigate the mysterious death of a young woman named Araya. One character, Boonsri, is a hospital staff member, while the other character remains unnamed and utilizes a mobile phone to record evidence and communicate with other characters via text messages.

The narrative unfolds through a non-linear storytelling approach, with players piecing together clues and information from various locations and character interactions. The gameplay primarily consists of exploration, puzzle-solving, and avoidance of supernatural threats. The game aims to create a suspenseful and immersive atmosphere through its use of binaural audio, realistic environments, and jump scares. It explores themes of guilt, trauma, and the consequences of past actions. The PlayStation VR version offers enhanced immersion through virtual reality.
