Arakichō

Arakichō (荒木町) is a district located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. It is known for its traditional, somewhat nostalgic atmosphere, characterized by narrow alleyways, wooden buildings, and a large number of small bars and restaurants.

Arakichō retains a character reminiscent of the pre-war period, surviving the extensive bombings of Tokyo during World War II better than many other areas of the city. The area was historically a hanamachi (geisha district), although that aspect has largely faded over time.

Today, Arakichō is a popular destination for those seeking a quiet and intimate drinking and dining experience away from the more bustling areas of Shinjuku.
