Interstate 76 (Colorado–Nebraska)

Interstate 76 (I-76) is an east–west Interstate Highway that runs for approximately 187 miles (301 km) in the states of Colorado and Nebraska. It serves as a spur route from I-70, providing a direct connection between Denver, Colorado, and I-80 in Nebraska.

The western terminus of I-76 is located northeast of Denver, near Arvada, Colorado, at an interchange with I-70. From there, it proceeds northeast across the plains of northeastern Colorado, passing through or near several towns, including Fort Morgan and Brush.

I-76 enters Nebraska approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Julesburg, Colorado. In Nebraska, the highway continues eastward, terminating at an interchange with I-80 near Big Springs. This junction provides access to destinations both east and west along the I-80 corridor.

The primary function of I-76 is to facilitate travel and commerce between Denver and the broader Interstate Highway System. It provides a more direct route for travelers headed from Denver to points east on I-80 compared to continuing directly east on I-70. The highway also serves agricultural communities in northeastern Colorado and western Nebraska, supporting the transportation of goods and services to and from these areas.
