AppZapper
AppZapper is a small utility application for macOS designed to uninstall other applications completely. It aims to remove not only the application itself, but also associated preference files, cache files, support files, and other related data that may be scattered throughout the user's file system.
Unlike simply dragging an application to the Trash, which only removes the application bundle, AppZapper employs a "Zap" feature. This feature attempts to identify and delete these associated files, often referred to as "orphan files," which can accumulate over time and potentially slow down system performance or cause conflicts.
The application typically functions by either allowing users to drag and drop applications onto the AppZapper window, or by providing a list of installed applications from which the user can select. AppZapper then scans the system for related files and presents a list of what it intends to delete. The user can review this list and deselect any items they wish to keep before initiating the removal process.
AppZapper is typically distributed as shareware or a paid application, offering a trial period or limited functionality before requiring a purchase. Alternative uninstallation utilities offering similar functionality are also available for macOS.
