Alsactide
Alsactide is a synthetic peptide analogue of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). It is used primarily in diagnostic testing to evaluate the function of the adrenal glands, specifically their ability to produce cortisol in response to stimulation. Alsactide is administered via injection, and subsequent blood samples are taken to measure cortisol levels. A blunted or absent response to alsactide stimulation can indicate adrenal insufficiency or dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Alsactide is generally considered to have a shorter duration of action compared to naturally occurring ACTH.
