Alexander Young (New Zealand politician)
Alexander Young (1855 – 1939) was a New Zealand politician. He served as a Member of Parliament for Waikato from 1911 to 1914.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Young emigrated to New Zealand and became a farmer in the Waikato region. He was a member of the Reform Party. In the 1911 general election, he defeated the incumbent, Henry Greenslade of the Liberal Party, to win the Waikato seat. He served a single term and was defeated in the 1914 election by John McCrae, also of the Liberal Party.
Beyond his parliamentary career, little readily accessible information exists concerning his life, family, or specific contributions to Waikato agriculture. He is primarily remembered for his brief tenure as a Member of Parliament.
