Esaias Fleischer (priest)

Esaias Fleischer (1633-1697) was a Swedish Lutheran priest and scholar. He served as a professor of Oriental Languages at the University of Uppsala and later as a parish priest in the diocese of Västerås. Fleischer is primarily known for his contributions to Biblical scholarship, particularly his expertise in Hebrew and other Semitic languages. He published several works on the Old Testament, including commentaries and translations. His academic pursuits also extended to other areas of theology and philosophy. Fleischer's work was influential in promoting a deeper understanding of the Biblical texts during his time. He died in Stockholm.
