Richard Lewis (sports administrator)
Richard Lewis is a British sports administrator and lawyer, best known for his roles in international cricket.
He served as the Chief Executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) from 1999 to 2005. During his tenure, he oversaw significant developments in English cricket, including the central contracting of players and the introduction of Twenty20 cricket. He also played a crucial role in the successful staging of the 1999 Cricket World Cup in England.
Before joining the ECB, Lewis was a lawyer specializing in sports law. Following his departure from the ECB, he held positions with the Sports Rights Owners Coalition (SROC) and served as Chairman of the Rugby Football League (RFL) between 2010 and 2012. He has been involved in various advisory and consultancy roles within the sports industry since then.
