Alexander Makarov (ice hockey, born 1962)
Alexander Makarov (born February 19, 1962) is a retired Soviet and Russian professional ice hockey player. He was a defenceman.
Makarov primarily played in the Soviet League for Traktor Chelyabinsk, CSKA Moscow, and Krylya Sovetov Moscow. He was known for his strong defensive play and physical presence on the ice.
Makarov represented the Soviet Union internationally, winning a gold medal at the 1986 World Championships.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he played briefly in North America in the International Hockey League (IHL) for the San Diego Gulls during the 1991-92 season. He then returned to Russia and played several more seasons before retiring.
