Alexander Green (executioner)
Alexander Green was a British executioner who served from 1941 to 1952. He was one of the less prolific executioners in the British "Home Office List," carrying out approximately 32 executions. He was trained by Thomas Pierrepoint and assisted him on several occasions before becoming a first executioner.
Green's executions were primarily carried out at prisons in the North of England and Scotland, including Strangeways Prison in Manchester and Barlinnie Prison in Glasgow. He is noted for his relatively short tenure and for having a less well-documented career compared to some of his contemporaries, like Albert Pierrepoint. Specific details about his life and career outside of his role as an executioner are scarce.
