Alex Gino

Alex Gino is an American children's and young adult author, known for their award-winning middle grade novel, George, later retitled Melissa. Gino writes primarily about transgender and gender non-conforming characters, aiming to increase visibility and understanding. Melissa was one of the first widely published middle grade novels to feature a transgender protagonist. Their other works include Rick, Felix Ever After, You Don't Know Everything, Jilly P!, and Alice Austen Lived Here. Gino's writing often explores themes of identity, acceptance, and allyship.
