Alcindo
Alcindo Martha de Freitas (December 31, 1945 – August 27, 2016), known simply as Alcindo, was a Brazilian footballer. He was a prolific striker, primarily known for his time playing for Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, a major football club in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.
Alcindo began his career at Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro before moving to Grêmio, where he became a club legend. He was a key player in Grêmio's success during the 1960s and 1970s, winning several state championships (Campeonato Gaúcho). He also played for other clubs, including Santos and Jalisco in Mexico.
He was known for his powerful physique, heading ability, and goal-scoring prowess. While he did not achieve widespread international fame like some of his contemporaries, Alcindo remains a highly respected figure in Brazilian football, particularly among Grêmio supporters. After retiring from professional football, he remained connected to Grêmio and was often seen at club events.
