Alan Cairns (clergyman)
Alan Cairns (1930-2023) was a Scottish clergyman, known primarily for his long tenure as minister of the Belmont Free Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was a prominent figure in conservative evangelical circles and was respected for his expository preaching style and his adherence to Reformed theology.
Cairns studied at the University of Glasgow and the Free Church College, Edinburgh. He was ordained and inducted to the Belmont Free Church in 1957, serving there until his retirement in 2001.
Beyond his pastoral work, Cairns was a sought-after speaker at conferences and conventions, both within the United Kingdom and internationally. He wrote several books, including commentaries on biblical texts and works on Christian doctrine. His writings often emphasized the importance of biblical authority and the sovereignty of God.
