1979–80 2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey) season

The 1979–80 2nd Bundesliga season was the seventh season of the 2nd Bundesliga, the second level of ice hockey in West Germany. The league was divided into two divisions: North and South. The champions of each division, EHC Essen-West (North) and EV Landsberg (South), qualified for the promotion playoff to the Bundesliga. EHC Essen-West won the playoff and were promoted, while EV Landsberg remained in the 2nd Bundesliga. Teams finishing at the bottom of each division faced relegation playoffs.
