Yam-Alin

Yam-Alin is a mountain range located in the Khabarovsk Krai of Russia, part of the larger Bureya Range system. It stretches roughly from southwest to northeast.

Geography and Geology: The Yam-Alin range is characterized by its moderately high peaks and rugged terrain. It is primarily composed of metamorphic and igneous rocks. The slopes are covered in dense taiga forests. Numerous rivers and streams originate in the Yam-Alin mountains, contributing to the watershed of the Amur River basin.

Climate: The region experiences a subarctic climate with long, cold winters and short, cool summers. Precipitation is relatively high, particularly in the higher elevations, much of it falling as snow.

Flora and Fauna: The Yam-Alin range supports a diverse ecosystem. Dominant vegetation includes coniferous forests such as larch, fir, and spruce. Fauna includes brown bears, wolves, lynx, sable, and various species of birds. The rivers and lakes are home to various fish species.
