XVI Corps (United States)

XVI Corps was a corps of the United States Army that saw service in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. Activated on August 23, 1944, under the command of Major General John B. Anderson, it was initially assigned to the Ninth United States Army.

The corps played a significant role in the Allied advance across Europe. It participated in the Rhineland campaign and the Battle of the Bulge (albeit in a peripheral role as the brunt of the German offensive was further south). XVI Corps was instrumental in the capture of key cities and strategic locations.

Units under the command of XVI Corps included various infantry divisions, armored divisions, and supporting units. The specific composition of the corps varied depending on the operational requirements.
