Wounds (film)
Wounds is a 2019 psychological horror film written and directed by Babak Anvari, based on the novella "The Visible Filth" by Nathan Ballingrud. The film stars Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson, Zazie Beetz, Karl Glusman, and Brad William Henke.
The plot follows Will (Hammer), a New Orleans bartender, whose life begins to unravel after finding a lost cell phone at his bar following a violent brawl. The phone contains disturbing images and videos which lead Will down a path of paranoia, anxiety, and escalating psychological distress. He and his girlfriend, Carrie (Johnson), are haunted by increasingly bizarre and unsettling events linked to the phone and its previous owners.
The film explores themes of toxic masculinity, infidelity, the intrusion of the digital world into reality, and the psychological impact of witnessing violence and disturbing content. Wounds premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2019 and was later acquired by Hulu for distribution.
