Wise Girls (film)

Wise Girls is a 2002 American crime drama film directed by Jon Avnet and starring Mira Sorvino, Mariah Carey, and Melora Walters. The film follows two young women, Raychel (Sorvino) and Sharon (Carey), who become waitresses at a Mafia-owned restaurant in Little Italy, New York City.

Raychel, a recent medical school dropout, is struggling with grief and financial difficulties following her mother's death. Sharon, a streetwise and hardened local, takes Raychel under her wing, introducing her to the ins and outs of the restaurant and its clientele. As they navigate the dangerous world of organized crime, they become entangled in the lives of the restaurant's owners and their associates.

The film explores themes of friendship, loyalty, survival, and the moral compromises people make under duress. Raychel and Sharon find themselves increasingly complicit in the illegal activities surrounding the restaurant, forcing them to confront their own values and make difficult choices.
