William Wyndham (1796–1862)
William Wyndham (1796–1862) was a British Whig politician. He served as a Member of Parliament for Wiltshire from 1820 to 1830. He was born into a prominent family, the Wyndham family of Dinton, Wiltshire. His father was William Wyndham (1769-1841) and his grandfather was William Wyndham, Baron Grenville. Educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, he entered Parliament at a relatively young age. Wyndham was known for his support of liberal causes, including parliamentary reform and Catholic emancipation. While his parliamentary career was relatively brief, he remained active in local affairs in Wiltshire. He married Ellen Heathcote in 1830 and had several children. His life was characterized by his social position and commitment to Whig principles during a period of significant political change in Britain.
