Kameko
Kameko, primarily in Japanese online slang, refers to a female photographer, particularly one who focuses on taking pictures of male idols or celebrities. It can also refer more generally to a female photographer who is a fan of her subject. The term is a portmanteau of kamera (camera) and the female suffix -ko.
The term often carries connotations of intense fandom, dedication, and sometimes obsessive behavior. Kameko are known for investing significant time and resources in attending events, securing good vantage points, and acquiring expensive equipment to capture high-quality images of their favorite idols. Their photos are often shared online through social media platforms and fan communities.
While kameko can be simply passionate fans, the term can also be used pejoratively, implying overly aggressive or intrusive behavior. The context determines whether the term is meant neutrally or negatively.
