William Sampson (politician)

William Sampson (born October 17, 1960) is a Canadian politician. He served as a Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the riding of Souris-Elmira in Prince Edward Island from 1996 to 2007.

Sampson was first elected in the 1996 provincial election and re-elected in the 2000 and 2003 provincial elections. During his time in the legislature, he held various portfolios, including Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment, and Minister of Transportation and Public Works. He also served as the Leader of the Official Opposition from 2003 to 2006.

Sampson did not seek re-election in the 2007 provincial election. Since leaving politics, he has been involved in business and community initiatives in Prince Edward Island.
