William Bodkin (New Zealand politician)

William Bodkin (1907 – 1982) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party.

Bodkin was born in Alexandra, Central Otago, and received his education at Otago Boys' High School and Otago University. He qualified as a barrister and solicitor and practiced law in Alexandra.

He represented the Central Otago electorate in the New Zealand House of Representatives from 1954 to 1972. During his time in Parliament, he served as a Cabinet Minister in the Second National Government under Prime Minister Keith Holyoake. His portfolios included Minister of Internal Affairs (1969-1972), Minister of Local Government (1969-1972), and Minister of Civil Defence (1969-1972).

Bodkin was known for his strong advocacy for the South Island and for his commitment to representing the interests of his rural constituents. He retired from Parliament in 1972.
